Within an hour of Dubrovnik lie two of Croatia's most distinctive wine regions, each shaped by a very different landscape and story.
Konavle, just south of the city, is gentle farmland — family vineyards, olive groves and countryside estates where wine is still made the way it was fifty years ago. Tastings here are personal, often led by the same family that planted the vines.
Pelješac, to the north, is dramatic by comparison: steep, sun-baked slopes dropping toward the sea, home to Dingač — one of Croatia's most celebrated reds, grown on vines so steep some are still harvested by hand.
We visit small, family-run wineries rather than large commercial cellars, so every glass comes with context: the soil, the family history, the reason this particular slope produces wine unlike anywhere else on the coast.
